Iran to start building two nuclear power plants before March 2015


Iran plans to start construction of two new nuclear power plants not far from the Bushehr nuclear power plant before the end of March 2015. The construction will take 5-7 years, according to Behruz Kamalvandi, deputy director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Trend reports.


The power plants will produce 1,000MW in total. Iran is negotiating the construction with Russia. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak has already expressed readiness to assist Iran. He reminded at the session of the Russian-Iranian inter-government commission for trade and economic cooperation on September 1 that the first energy block of Bushehr was working fine and there were plans to build 20 more blocks.
