Core fueling started at Unit 1 of Novovoronezh NPP-2

 

Rosatom State Corporation informed that one of the most important events in the Russian nuclear energy over the last years occurred on March 24, 2016 – core fueling of the most powerful unit of Novovoronezh NPP-2. "Today the first fuel assembly has installed in the core of the unit ", — the State Corporation posted in Twitter.

 

Novovoronezh NPP-2 (two power units with WWER-1200 reactors with installed capacity of 1.2 thousand megawatt each) in Voronezh Oblast (Russia) is being built under the AES-2006 project. This is typical project of power unit of the new generation 3+ with enhanced safety and improved technical and economic features. The purpose of the project is achievement of modern safety and reliability indicators along with optimized capital investments in the plant construction.

 

Start of the industrial operation of the new power unit is scheduled for the current year.
