A seminar on Russian nuclear technologies was held in Indonesia

The JSC “Rusatom Overseas Inc.” (a subsidiary of the State Corporation “Rosatom”) and the State-owned Electricity Company of Indonesia PT PLN (Persero) held in Jakarta (Indonesia) a joint seminar on Russian nuclear technologies. The event was attended by representatives of the Indonesia’s National Nuclear Power Agency (BATAN), the National Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency  (BAPETEN), as well as Indonesia's ministries involved in design of the project for construction of the first commercial nuclear power plant in the country. The seminar was focused on the key issues of nuclear power industry. Representatives of subsidiaries of the State Corporation “Rosatom” shared with the Indonesian colleagues the Russian experience in the design, construction and operation of NPPs, as well as in the field of nuclear fuel cycle. In addition, Russian speakers presented approaches of the Russian state corporation in respect of the support of newcomers-countries in development of nuclear power programs, including in the field of public acceptability of nuclear technologies. In particular, the representative of the Russian Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (Rostekhnadzor) told about the experience and approaches of the Russian nuclear regulator, focusing on the effectiveness of established normative and legal framework that contributes to trouble-free operation of NPPs of Russian design around the world. He also noted the support that Rostekhnadzor provides to national regulatory authorities of newcomers-countries, where Rosatom implements NPP construction projects, including Vietnam and Bangladesh. “We welcome the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the huge experience of Rosatom in the field of nuclear energy”, - the Regional Development Director of PT PLN business in East Java and Bali, Amin Subekti noted. According to him, the atom is both an economically and environmentally reasonable solution for the Indonesian energy industry.
